LA LOBA FILMS

According to Mexican folklore, there is an old woman who lives in the desert, gathering bones to preserve “that which is in danger of being lost to the world." She is often called La Loba (“Wolf Woman”) because her speciality is said to be wolves.

When La Loba has collected a complete wolf skeleton, she meticulously arranges the pieces on the ground in front of her and sings to them. As she sings, the bones transform into a living wolf, and it runs free out of La Loba’s cave and back into the desert. As the wolf runs farther and faster, it morphs into a laughing woman.

La Loba Films is based in Nashville, Tennessee. We aim to honor the sacred tradition of La Loba by producing video projects about that which makes us human - exploring identity, community, and transformation.
